This is exciting! I love black beer, I love stouts, and I have one in my grubby little hands right now: St. Ambroise Oatmeal Stout by Brasserie McAuslan Brewing Inc out of Montreal, Quebec.

It's beautiful as you can clearly see in the picture and it smells amazing. It's 5% alcohol volume is on par with the Canadian average, it has that fun tiny, frothy carbonation that makes stouts so great. It's black as all get out, and I'm excited to stop typing and start drinking.

It's delicious. It tastes like a stout should: there's that classic roasted malt flavour, hints of coffee goodness, and a bitter taste that doesn't overpower the other flavours and makes me happy. It's an all day slow burn kind of beer for me. It's the kind of brew I can slowly drink too many of over the course of a long day, but I really don't think I can sit down and slam them slam them down all night. That's not the stout way for this cat.

This beer should be served in a stout glass, obviously. I wish I had one for this beer, it deserves the fullness that proper glassware provides.

My rating: 10/10. There, I said it.

My wife is my second sipper and man, does she not appreciate stouts the way I do.

My wife's rating: 1/10
