Hello, and welcome to Beers and Such, the craft beer review site that sometimes, though not often, contains more than beer reviews. Today will be a beer review because I have a beer ready to review. Onwards!

Today you and I are going to take a gander at Naughty Neighbour American Pale Ale by Nickel Brook Brewing Co in Burlington, Ontario. At 4.9%, she's not as naughty as I would have assumed, but isn't there a saying about assuming...

Moving on. This beer is cloudy with a bit of sediment, light yellow, and it smells like a citrus hop might be the dominant flavour. I like the look of it, I like the smell of it, so let's be done with the talking and get to the drinking.

It's good. There's a pretty heavy hop forward beginning, but it's not over done. There's none of that ick that sticks to the back of your throat, and that is a big plus for this guy. I don't pick up much of a distinct malt flavour, but I do find there's a surprisingly smooth finish. I was expecting a much more pronounced bitterness as the beer fades out, but there isn't much bitterness to speak of.

All in all, I'm very happy with this beer. It had the potential to get out of hand, but the folks at Nickel Brook have done a great job of keeping this beer in check. Nicely done.

It actually tastes better the more I drink. That's not too many sips talking, either. I sometimes find these hoppy IPAs can get a little tough to finish, but this one is getting better and better. That could spell some trouble. Perhaps this neighbour is naughtier than I thought...

As for where this beer might fit in, I have to say more often than not, this brew will be enjoyed by folks like me and you that look for something off the beaten track. It's going to get roughed up in your average night club, and you won't see it hanging around legitimate imitations of British pubs either. Realistically, that's not what this beer is going for, so no worries.

It's a sit around with your craft beer buddies and have a few to mark a memorable night frolicking with the Naughty Neighbour.

I suggest an IPA glass, though it's an American Pale Ale. I guess I'm just a rebel like that.

My rating: 8.5/10

My lovely wife is my second sipper, but she's left me high and dry on this one, I'm afraid. I can say with the utmost confidence, she would not have liked this beer.

There you have it, friends. Naughty Neighbour American Pale Ale brought to you by Nickel Brook Brewing Co in Burlington, Ontario is a surprising beer that I happily recommend to anyone looking for a tasty brew.
