Welcome to Beers and Such, the beer review blog mostly dedicated to craft beers from anywhere I can get them. I will occasionally throw in a non-beer review here and there as well to break things up a bit.
Today I am going to review Chicken Man Pale Ale by Furnace Room Brewery in Georgetown, Ontario. It's a light golden colour, looks like a Budweiser in the glass, but it rocks a juicy 5.4% Mr Weiser just can't match.
I will admit the name caught my attention and that's why we're here today. Also, I like the can. There's a man with a chicken on a basket riding a bike. Yep, that's a beer I'll try any day of the week.
Now let's see what the chicken man bringeth.
Well now that's a glass full of danger, isn't it? It brings a little hop off the top, but it's very light. It hints at some citrus notes and then it slides nicely to very slight bitter finish. This is very light tasting and very easy to drink which can easily spell disaster.
I can't believe how smooth it is. Danger Will Robinson, this is some sneaky beer. If you don't keep an eye on your consumption of this brew, I foresee some hilarious pictures you won't remember being in finding their way to your snaps, DMs and whatever else the cool kids are using these days.
That being said, I think this beer would be right at home huddled around the TV while Canada plays the US for the gold medal at the World Junior Championships for instance. It would pair well with doritos (any flavour), chicken wings of course, and anything else you might want to nervously stuff down your neck during the game.
I would suggest drinking this beer out of your standard pint glass. Maybe even one with a hockey motif etched into the glass...
My rating: 8/10. I like this beer, and I like the can with the chicken man.
My lovely wife is my faithful second sipper and she's happy to have a break from super hoppy IPA's for a change.
My wife's rating: 5/10. That might seem low, but she literally handed out a 0.5 in a previous post so this is a good rating.
There you have it, friends.
