Hello everyone and welcome to Beers and Such; the world's best beer review site run by a guy from my town, on my street and in my house. Craft beer reviews dominate the headlines, but one of these days I'll add a few random posts about whatever captures my attention.

Today I bring to you Canuck Pale Ale, brought to you by the Great Lakes Brewery in good ol' Toronto, Ontario. It's a light golden colour, cloudy and unfiltered, and at 5.2%, it's more than enough of a party punch to get the job done. I do detect a nice hoppy aroma that leads me to believe this will be a flavourful brew.

Let's find out already.

My nose does not deceive me. This beer is decently hoppy without being thick about it. There's a quick drop off after the hoppy intro to a sort of intermission between flavours and than an easy going bitter finish. There's nothing overdone in this beer, and that's an excellent thing to have in a beer.

A guy could pretty easily slip past responsible with this one, and not regret it one bit. I like the smooth finish, and I like that the hops don't stick around very long after making themselves known. That's not to say there's anything wrong with hoppier style beers, but for my particular

tastes, there can be too much of a good thing.

It's like hot sauce; the ones that taste the best are hot, but more importantly the flavour is what makes them good. Once you get into the ones that just burn all the way around the track and then ruin the back door on the way out, they aren't even enjoyable anymore. Sure the brave and the bold will make a show of eating them, but there's most definitely a point of diminishing returns.

This beer would be a happy companion around the poker table with some friends, or just hanging out in the boat during a quiet day with the fishes. Is drinking and fishing illegal? I go fishing every 3-12 years, so I'm not up on the legalities of the game, but most of the people I know that enjoy fishing also enjoy drinking...

I like to think this beer would respond best being served in an IPA glass, or a set of IPA glasses if you're prone to drinking with friends.

My rating: 7.5/10. It's tasty and light with enough of a punch to weaken your knees.

My lovely wife, a non-believer in the greatness of IPA's, is my faithful second sipper and as one would expect she didn't care for this one.

My wife's rating: 1/10. Harsh, to say the least.

There you have it, my friends. Canuck Pale Ale, brought to you by the brew centric minds of Great Lakes Brewery in Canada's unofficial capitol, Toronto, Ontario is a light tasting easy drinking beer that fits nicely into a man's leisure time, if he has any.
