Boneshaker IPA by Amsterdam Brewing Company

Ladies and Gentleman, boys and girls, children of all ages today I bring to you Boneshaker IPA from the minds at Amsterdam Brewing company in Toronto, Ontario. The can says "over the top hops", and the smell would back up that claim. It's darker than your average IPA, it's unfiltered but I don't see any particulate floating in it, and it has a creamy sort of carbonation that almost looks like nitro. At a beefy 7.1%, this is a stiff beer to say the least.

I am a fan of nitro beers. Fair warning to you, my dear readers, there will come a time when I review some of my favourite nitro beers even though they aren't craft beers and I have tasted them before. Some of them, I have tasted many times actually. They're too good not to mention on a blog about good beer.

But enough rambling, let's drink this beer.

Well, the first word that comes to my mind with this beer is interesting. I don't mean that in a bad way at all. I like this beer because it's interesting. It starts out hoppy, which for me can go either way, but then it fades nicely to the malt flavours, and leaves off with around ten percent of the bitterness of some stronger tasting IPA's out there.

You know the taste I'm talking about right? It sits at the back of your throat and dares you to try and wash it down with anything at all because it won't work. That taste that sits on your couch and opens another beer when you've been trying politely to hint that the party is over and it's time to go. My wife calls it the bile after taste. This beer doesn't have that, and I like that a lot.

I recommend your standard IPA glass for this beer, and if you've been following my blog for a while, you've no doubt got yourself a set of IPA glasses by now, right? Right?

My rating: 8/10

This is a good sipping beer and if you want to get black out drunk and marry that stranger you just met at the hot dog stand, this is the beer for you. My PSA of the day is please don't marry people you meet while buying/eating street meat after too many boneshakers.

My wife is my second sipper and man does she hate hoppy beers.

My wife's rating: 1/10
