Good day everyone, and happy Halloween. Today we try Barking Squirrel by Hop City Brewing Company in Brampton, Ontario and Saint John, New Brunswick. East coast meets south central. The beer is dark red, foamy, weighs in at a respectable 5%, and a delight for the eye to behold. I'm liking what I see, and I hope the taste is just as likeable.
Let's find out, shall we?
That's interesting...it starts hoppy but only for a second, then it moves into a New Castle Brown Ale sort of flavour, and then it gets a metallic taste. There's not much of an aftertaste to speak of, so it finishes clean. I really like this beer. I can see myself taking in a few of these with the fellas watching a big MMA fight in a mancave somewhere.
I need a mancave...
My rating: 8/10
This beer is tasty and easy to drink. I wasn't sure what to expect, and this beer is far better than I thought it would be. It's great and I recommend it to anyone.
My wife is my second sipper and she gave this beer a long pause before giving her rating.
My wife's rating: 5/10
I feel that this beer deserves a proper glass to really be able to express itself. My in-depth and exhaustive research tells me this beer should be served in a pilsner glass.
