Today I bring to you 10W30 by Neustadt Springs Brewery in none other than Neustadt, Ontario. I didn't know what to expect when I poured this beer. It says it's a "malty grain premium dark ale", which is a nice little play on words, but leaves some blanks in my imagination. Turns out it's almost black (awesome), with low carbonation, and now I'm excited to try it.

So I shall.

It's really good. The malty flavour flirts with a porter-esque taste, the it cleans up nicely to hint at being a "standard" ale, before leaving off with next to no after taste. It's good, clean, and despite the dark colour, it's as easy to drink as a light beer brewed in the rockies.

On that note, I should point out that this beer is 5.5%, so it doesn't count as a light beer, unless you happen to be from Germany. That extra .5% isn't going to tip a guy over the edge in anyway, but getting several beers deep will have the desired effect of making the drinker in question witty, charming, and so smooth on the dance floor, Michael Jackson would ask for some pointers. If he wasn't...you know...retired.

I'm going to go ahead and recommend this fine brew be consumed from a tulip glass. Why? Because I when I looked it up, the interweb said so.

My rating 10/10. I really like this beer. I like it's easy drinkability, I like the look of it in the glass, and I like the almost porter taste of it.

My lovely wife is my second sipper, and she like this one, too.

My wife's rating: 6.5/10, though she was leaning towards a 7.
